A nature-led campaign that turns Polène’s most recognisable silhouette into an origin story — discovered first in terrain, then in water, and finally in the instinctive gesture of carrying.

Case Summary

Not another bag in nature.
A creation myth for an icon.

Most fashion campaigns ask where a woman carries the bag. This one asks where the bag’s shape came from.

Numéro Un is the model that introduced Polène’s language of interlocking curves and controlled folds. The opportunity was not to decorate that silhouette with a landscape, but to build a landscape that appears to have remembered it first.

The campaign moves through three scales — monumental object, environmental gesture, intimate body — while keeping the same restrained chalk, moss, rain and leather vocabulary.

Deep Brand Reading

Polène is not
minimalism.

Minimalism is the surface. The real asset is shape intelligence: a house code built through curves, folds, drape, technical tension and small pieces of hardware that behave like punctuation.

Founded in Paris in 2016 by three siblings, Polène designs in Paris and entrusts production to leather artisans in Ubrique, Spain. The house describes its leather as sculpted into organic shapes, folds, draping and weaving — a language where craftsmanship is not shown as nostalgia, but as the engineering behind apparent ease.

Form over logo

Recognition comes from silhouette and fold geometry before the wordmark is read.

Engineered softness

The bags appear supple and light, but that ease is produced through complex technical development.

Material restraint

Neutral colour, tactile grain and subtle PVD hardware keep attention on construction rather than status display.

Nature as syntax

Organic lines, wind, rock and movement recur as formal references across leather goods and jewellery.

Product Deconstruction

The first form.
Reduced, not diminished.

The Nano does not miniaturise the idea of Numéro Un; it concentrates it. Every brand code remains legible at 20.5 centimetres: the arched handle, folded shoulders, curved flap and half-moon tongue.

Textured Chalk is especially powerful because the colour removes distraction. In near-monochrome, the eye reads volume, shadow, grain and seam — the exact things that make the bag recognisable without an oversized logo.

01 · The arc

Handle and flap create two nested curves: a small architectural rhythm visible at distance.

02 · The fold

Interlocking side folds convert leather from flat surface into controlled volume.

03 · The tongue

The half-moon tab acts as a visual seal — a compact, ownable signature.

04 · The grain

The chalk pebble texture gives the pale colour depth and makes macro photography productive.

Strategic Opportunity

From bestseller
to house mythology.

The category is crowded with quiet, neutral bags. Polène’s advantage is not that it is quieter. It is that the silhouette feels found rather than styled.
What the market sees

A desirable contemporary handbag.

Recognisable, versatile, premium-looking and accessible relative to heritage luxury.

What the house owns

A repeatable grammar of form.

Curves, folds, drape and hardware can make Polène legible before the name appears.

What the campaign adds

An origin story.

Numéro Un becomes the first shape discovered by the land — not simply the first item in a product line.

THE CHALLENGE

Use nature without becoming generic “woman in landscape” fashion imagery.

Nature must explain the product construction, not merely provide atmosphere.

THE CREATIVE RULE

Every landscape element must echo a specific product code.

Arc, fold, tongue, grain, volume, pale leather, controlled softness or the protective act of carry.

Visual Grammar

A world built from
echoes, not props.

The visual system never literalises nature into decoration. Instead, the campaign uses formal rhymes: curved water against curved leather, moss against grain, a tree canopy against the protective gesture of the coat.

Scale shifts

Macro, human and monumental perspectives make one silhouette feel culturally larger.

Curved movement

Tidal channels, ripples, wind and drape repeat the product’s interlocking lines.

Protected volume

The bag is held, sheltered or nested — never displayed as a hard trophy.

Quiet weather

Fog, fine rain and overcast light create depth without fashion-drama clichés.

Tactile truth

Leather grain, moss, chalk, wet soil and wool remain photographically believable.

Chapter I · La Terre

The object
before the object.Form as terrain.

The campaign opens where product photography usually ends: beyond human scale. Moss does not decorate the bag; it becomes the bag. The icon appears as a geological fact, then returns to true scale without losing its authority.

Chapter II · Le Courant

Water draws
the fold.Form in motion.

The curved tidal channels function as a living diagram of the bag. A hand meets the surface and activates the line: ripple, reflection and strap become one continuous gesture.

Chapter III · L’Abri

The bag returns
to the body.Form as instinct.

Rain changes the relationship. The Numéro Un Nano is no longer an object in front of the woman; it is held inside her protective gesture. Coat, collar, arm and bag form one compact architecture of shelter.

Campaign Edit

The woman is not
modelling the bag.

She is moving through the same forces that shaped it. The strongest frames feel observed rather than posed: crossing, listening, touching and shielding. This preserves Polène’s calm while giving the campaign narrative tension.

Product Truth

Concept never
at the expense of identity.

The campaign can become surreal in scale because the product remains exact in the close frames. Silhouette, handle, flap, half-moon tongue, textured grain, strap and discreet gold wordmark are treated as non-negotiable.

Silhouette lock

Nested curves and folded sides stay consistent in every scale and angle.

Colour lock

Chalk remains a warm mineral neutral, never blue-white or yellow cream.

Material lock

Pebbled calf grain and stitched edges remain visible, especially in macro frames.

Human lock

One woman, one bob, one restrained wardrobe, one continuous weather world.

Production · MEI AI Lab Role

Directed as a world.
Built as a system.

The work combines strategic research, concept development, reference-locked generation, editorial selection and campaign design. The goal was never maximum image variety. It was maximum coherence.

THE STANDARD

AI-directed, not one-click generated.

Every frame was judged against product geometry, model continuity, weather logic, material realism and the campaign’s single formal idea.

Brand & Product Audit

Official brand, design, material and product-language review; silhouette and category diagnosis.

Creative Strategy

White-space definition, origin-story platform, three-chapter narrative and channel architecture.

AI Art Direction

Identity locks for bag, model, wardrobe and weather; scale, lens and gesture direction per frame.

Image Selection

18-image final edit built around progression rather than repetition: object, environment, body and detail.

Motion Direction

15-second match-cut film with texture-to-terrain transitions and real-time environmental movement.

Locked in every frame

  • Numéro Un Nano geometry and Chalk finish
  • Half-moon tongue, handle, strap and discreet hardware
  • Same woman, bob haircut and neutral wardrobe
  • Overcast coastal light, fine rain and muted palette
  • Natural, unperformed interaction with landscape

Rejected from the world

  • Logo-first styling or overt status cues
  • Generic “luxury woman in field” posing
  • Fantasy nature that breaks material credibility
  • Unmotivated props, florals or decorative clutter
  • Inconsistent bag scale, leather, hardware or anatomy
